Cellmark, a leading provider of forensic, paternity and toxicology services, has been providing PCR based ‘antigen’ COVID-19 testing to healthcare workers at GP surgeries and care homes in Oxfordshire and Lancashire.
David Hartshorne, Managing Director at Cellmark commented “We are delighted to have been able to support our local GP surgeries and care homes. We were very pleased that we could use our laboratory testing expertise and our specially designed containment facilities to set up and deliver a rapid COVID testing service to help front line health care workers”.
Cellmark has been working with the COVID Volunteer Testing Network to deliver its testing service, supported by the Department of Health and Social Care, which has meant that testing could be delivered to GP surgeries and care homes free at the point of delivery.
David added “We have been providing a free courier service and using our own barcoded testing kits containing a viral inactivator buffer, to make the whole process as easy and safe as possible for the healthcare workers we have been supporting”.
